Sustained development for Scottish-based artists
Artist Attachment is a major new paid opportunity for Scottish-based artists with a significant track record from any art form to focus on a new development in their work. It is supported by Creative Scotland and Jerwood Arts.
Magnetic North has awarded its 2018 Artist Attachment to theatremaker Jenna Watt. Jenna is using the opportunity to research rewilding in Scotland.
She will work with communities, conservationists and other custodians of the land to create a series of site-specific performances. At the end of her attachment, Jenna will draw this work together to create a performance which explores how the act of rewilding could also rewild our lives.
The attachment offers a bursary and a budget for expenses. The artist is supported throughout by Magnetic North’s core team and will receive regular mentoring from Artistic Director Nicholas Bone.
The first Artist Attachment was awarded to visual artist, composer and performer Hanna Tuulikki in 2017.
Hanna used her Attachment to research and develop a new cross-artform piece investigating the mimesis of deer. Deer Dancer premieres at Edinburgh Printmakers as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival.
