Walden is one of the most extraordinary and unclassifiable books ever written. Magnetic North’s production adapted the book as an event that was part performance art and part philosophy class. It was created for a limited run of performances at Stills gallery in Edinburgh in February 2008 – the production played to sell-out houses and fantastic reviews.

It was nominated for Best Design in the 2008 CATS awards and we were invited to recreate it for a one-off performance as part of Scotland Live in October 2008.

The production was later adapted for touring - after playing at the Dovecot Studios as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, it toured in Scotland and England in Autumn 2009. It did a further tour of Scotland and Wales in Autumn 2010.  The production has now been performed more than 70 times.

The playscript is published (ISBN 978-0956205414) - you can buy direct from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or order from other retailers.
