Crackling good script, fantastic performance, a play that dwells on your mind for a long time after.
Walden - a thought

I saw 'Walden' at Penninghame House on October 2nd.  I enjoyed the production and thought the acting was excellent.  I do, however, have a reservation about the concept, which seems to me rather contrary to the spirit of the original book.  The actor played within an oval space defined by a set of wooden benches, beautifully made from (I was told) American cedar.  These benches are transported from venue to venue in a large truck.  I wondered about the carbon footprint of the production....isn't there a line in the text 'simplify, simplify, simplify' ?  Could not seating be improvised locally ?  Or have I missed something ?

A vibrant, beautifully lived interpretation. Rippling philosophies. Shimmering truths. Mowat inspires and nature hums its thanks.
Walden - Pure Delight!

Laughing  Peebles Thursday 7 October - what a marvellous experience watching such a wonderful actor as Cameron Mowat performing Walden.  I thought he was also a spectator, prior to the start of the performance, imagine the shock I got when he started to speak his lines, right next to me!  Sheer brilliance!

Best Wishes and Good Luck for the rest of the tour,  Fiona Middler

Enjoyed it very much, as did my 15 year old son who said that he was thinking over everything as it was said and seeing whether he agreed or disagreed with it - which is a testimony to the fact that the performance never faltered in keeping our attention.

Read about your tour to Wales with Walden.  Are you coming to the London area?

Best wishes Guy

My wife and I and two friends thoroughly enjoyed Walden at the Tron. A stirring performance and a very impressively sustained New England accent for someone raised in Aibirdeen and Embrugh. Clever set too, but we all thought you could have done a little more with the lighting, perhaps to reflect changing seasons? The lights were a little harsh especially if one was directly opposite. But well done - more like this please.
Walden, a wonderful performance

Saw 'Walden' at the Tron theatre in Glasgow.  I would highly recommend it.  It is a very thoughtful show, making me realise a few things I wasn't aware of before.  The actor was amazing.
